Due to Covid, we took a break from summer camp in 2020 but hope to revisit a schedule for summer 2021! Stay tuned, and stay safe!

Boat Handling for Girls Summer Camp!

Summer’s here!

We LOVE summer! Enroll your daughter in summer camp and let her loose for the time of her life! The week of camp is designed to get girls in, on, and under the water. We combine all the fabulous and fun things to do in the Keys with learning about how to get it done on a boat!

Girls will snorkel, fish, explore AND learn about boating safety, navigation, how to steer and anchor a boat.

Just Girls? What about the Boys?

We love boys as much as we love girls but this class is designed for girls to see just what girls can do! In this week of camp, typical roles fall away and new understandings come into play. We create a boating experience where girls take charge and lead the way!

Little Girls

This week of camp is designed for girls, age 5-8. The 5 hour camp days make for a super salty week of fun. Girls are immersed in the outdoors and will experience exploring the underwater world of the Florida Bay, snorkeling the coral reef, fishing, bird id, exploring Indian Key with a scavenger hunt. We even cook our catch one day for lunch!

Throughout the week they will be introduced to boating concepts. Little captains learn about boating safely, channel markers, rules of the road, anchoring. They get to steer the boat and put that boat on a plane, learning to use the throttle to make the boat go faster!

This is a wonderful week of fun that will leave the kids with the clear idea that being on the boat is exactly where they want to be!

Camp size is limited to five girls! Book early to reserve your spot!

Older girls, age 9-12, are now old enough to do more behind the wheel and even get their Florida Boaters License. During this week of camp, we still snorkel, eoc-tour, fish, learn about wildlife and ecosystems. But we can do more behind the wheel too so girls can use a chart, learn to steer the boat with accuracy and intention, tie knots that will hold and figure out how to anchor so the boat stays exactly where we want it.

Throughout the week we will review all of the information in the Florida Boaters handbook. Girls will take the test at home and will receive their boating licenses by the end of the summer. This academic element to boating legitimizes and drives the point home that boating is fun - but to be taken seriously.
